<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit an actual faulty place to be located in an optical transmission system. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission device is provided with a plurality of optical interfaces; a multiplex unit which carries out wavelength multiplexing; an output amplifier which transmits an optical signal to an optical transmission line; a preamplifier which amplifies the optical signal received from the optical transmission line; a demultiplex unit which outputs a plurality of optical signals to a plurality of optical interfaces; a dummy signal transmitting section which selectively outputs a weak optical signal for testing to respective units in the device; signal monitoring units; arranged in respective units in the device to monitor the status of optical signal; a log memory unit for storing alarm information upon generating hindrance; and a control unit which periodically confirms the status of optical signal, which is monitored by the signal monitoring unit, and stores alarm information at the time of fault in the log memory unit. The control unit outputs an optical signal for testing the dummy signal transmission unit, according to a fault search instruction outputted from a monitoring terminal and confirms the reception of the optical signal for testing via the signal monitoring unit, thereby verifying the alarm information stored in the log memory unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
