HANDHELD BRAILLE CONVERSION DEVICE, BRAILLE CONVERSION METHOD, AND BRAILLE CONVERSION PROGRAM

When a user positions a handheld Braille conversion device on an object, a CCD camera captures an image of a predetermined range at the periphery thereof, and the presence/absence of characters is detected on the basis of the captured image.  When there are characters, the characters are recognized and the recognized characters are converted into Braille and displayed.  When the positional relation between the moving direction of the handheld Braille conversion device and a character string included in the captured image is not suitable, an error is displayed.
