PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member-holding device that successfully holds optical members of different thicknesses. SOLUTION: A polarizing plate 500 is held by a holding device 400, and is attached to a housing cover 300. The holding device 400 includes: a frame portion 410 supporting the peripheral edge of the polarizing plate 500; a pressing part 414 for pressing the polarizing plate 500 toward the mounting part 302 of the housing cover 300 and holding it; an arm 416 for making the pressing part 414 rotatable in the direction of the thickness of the polarizing plate 500; and a lever 415 that is opposed to the mounting part 302, and displaces the pressing part 414 in the direction of the polarizing plate 500 when receiving pressing force by abutting on the mounting part 302.
