PURPOSE: An auxiliary power device for vehicles and a control method thereof are provided, which can reduce friction of the engine fly wheel and clutch disk. CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary power device for vehicles is constituted as follows. The power of the engine(10) is delivered to transmission through the flywheel(50) and rubbed clutch disk. The auxiliary power input gear is connected to the start motor(20) for the engine starting. The auxiliary power output gear(70) for transferring or cutting the power of the start motor is connected between the output shaft(90) of transmission and input shaft of the driving wheel.
