1,258,809. Electrolytic plating, cleaning, etching, anodizing. JOHN LYSAGHT (AUSTRALIA) Ltd. March 24, 1969 [April 1, 1968], No. 15229/69. Heading C7B. One side only of a metal article, e.g. sheet or strip, is electrolytically treated, e.g. plated, cleaned, pickled, etched or anodized, by immersing the article in an electrolyte so that the side to be treated is disposed opposite a first electrode or set of electrodes which is anodic or cathodic relative to the article, depending on the process, and the side to remain untreated is disposed opposite a second reverse electrode or set of electrodes which is cathodic or anodic respectively. Steel panels, anodically cleaned in alkali and etched in HCl, may be Zn plated on one side only in a bath containing 350 g/l ZnSO 4 . 7H 2 O and 30 g/l CNH 4 ) 2 SO 4 or pH 3À5, or Cu or Cd plated in respective cyanide baths. Subsequent deposition on both sides produces differential coatings.
|
