PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method of a filtering medium for filtering a vinyl polymer economically and efficiently with a common filter, that is, a filter without a backwash mechanism to solve the problem wherein, when a large amount of a vinyl polymer solution is filtered, the filtering medium such as filter cloth and wire mesh is clogged and suffers a low filtering rate ending up completely blocked. SOLUTION: Deposited particles are removed from the filtering medium by passing a solvent through the filtering medium at a rate of 80 kg/m<SP>2</SP>or higher based on the filter area under a pressure of 0.3 MPa or higher (forward washing).
