PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel for a plastic molding die which has high corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity, and has excellent temperature controllability. SOLUTION: The steel for the plastic molding die having excellent temperature controllability is composed of a steel having a composition comprising, by mass, 0.03 to 0.25% C, 0.01 to 0.40% Si, 0.10 to 1.50% Mn,≤0.30% P,≤0.050% S, 0.05 to 0.20% Cu, 0.05 to 1.50% Ni, 5.0 to 10.0% Cr, 0.10 to 2.00% Mo, 0.01 to 0.10% V,≤0.10% N,≤0.01% O and≤0.05% Al, also satisfying inequality(Cr+Mo)≤10% and inequality 7≤(Cr+3.3Mo), and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
