MULTILAYER COATING WITH INORGANIC OXIDE NETWORK-CONTAINING LAYER AND METHOD FOR APPLICATION OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer coating including a coating layer comprising an inorganic oxide network, and a coating layer deposited from a liquid composition that is hydrophilic and includes an essentially completely hydrolyzed organosilicate.

SOLUTION: The multilayer coating includes (1) a first layer comprising the inorganic oxide network, and (2) a second layer applied over at least a portion of the first layer. The second layer is deposited from at least one liquid composition that is hydrophilic. The liquid composition contains substantially completely hydrolyzed organosilicate. There are also provided: a substrate coated with such multilayer coating; and a method of applying the multilayer coating on the substrate.
