<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil for internal combustion engine with a longer lifetime, capable of fabricating its spring and electric component(s) from ordinary, low-cost materials and eliminating the possibility of generating an obstacle in transmitting a high voltage to an ignition plug through a spring and electric component(s). <P>SOLUTION: The ignition coil for internal combustion engine is configured so that a protector 41 is mounted on a high voltage tower part 22t of an insulation case 22 and a high voltage generated in a secondary coil accommodated in the insulation case 22 is supplied to the ignition plug 61 through a coil spring 45 accommodated in an insulation pipe 44 of the protector 41 and with its one end connected to a resistance 33 in the high voltage tower part 22t, wherein an engaging stepped part 44s is provided orbiting inside the insulation pipe 44 mating with the other end of the coil spring 45 and a blocking piece 46 to be in contact with the stepped part 44s for generating blocking is provided at the other end of the coil spring 45.
