<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-infrared shielding body having a superior near-infrared absorbing function and neon-cut function and improved stability with the lapse of time during storage for a long period of time under high temperature and high humidity, and a front plate for display using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The near-infrared shielding body 10 includes a base material 1 and a near-infrared absorbing layer 2 disposed on one major surface of the base material 1. The near-infrared absorbing layer 2 includes a near-infrared absorbing dye and a visible light absorbing dye. The near-infrared absorbing dye includes a diimonium compound including a sulfonic acid imide derivative, and a cyanine compound (A). The visible light absorbing dye includes a cyanine compound (B).
