PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for transmitting a multimedia message are provided to remove a need that a multimedia service server of a service provider converts a message or contents for a portable receiving terminal. CONSTITUTION: If profile information about a portable receiving terminal does not exist, the profile information is requested to a server and received(105,110). A multimedia message is converted using the profile information(120). The converted multimedia message is transmitted to the server(125).
