PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polymerizable acrylate compound having a high refractive index, free from the problems of ultraviolet light absorption and fluorescence and high in transparency, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The acrylate group-bearing new compound as an aromatic polycyclic compound is provided, having a high refractive index, with no absorptions on high-wavelength side of 260 nm or longer, being free from the problem of fluorescence and high in transparency, having an ethanoanthracene skeleton and being radical-polymerizable. The method for synthesizing this compound from an anthracene compound and a polyfunctional acrylate is also provided. This compound is radical-polymerizable, and its polymer is high in transparency and useful as a resin having a high refractive index. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
