SIDE SEAL MEMBERS FOR A DOCK SEAL

Side seal member (20) for a loading dock seal are disclosed. An example truck loading dock seal (20) comprising a resiliently compressible side pad (24) supported by a relatively rigid backer (26) and encased within a pliable cover (28) includes at least one flexible lip (32) protruding from the cover (36) to seal a gap that might exist between the backer (26) and the wall (18) to which the backer (26) is mounted. In some cases, the lip (32) is part of the cover (28) and is located where a rear vertical edge of the side pad meets the wall (18). The flexibility of the lip (32) enables the lip to sealingly conform to a wall (18) having an irregular surface. For additional sealing, a back sheet (38) of the pliable cover (28) includes a touch-and-hold fastener and/or overlapping layers (38a, 38b) of material that can provide a compressible seal between the wall (18) and the backer (26).
