<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper money handling device for maintaining the high speed property of a transaction task, and for reading the account numbers of paper money at low costs. <P>SOLUTION: This paper money handling device is provided with a money depositing/dispensing section 1 for depositing/dispensing paper money; a temporary safe 4 for temporarily storing paper money; cabinets 8 and 9 for storing paper money; a conveyance path 2 for conveying paper money; a determination part 3 for determining the authenticity of paper money to be conveyed by the conveyance path 2; and a control part for controlling each of the sections.
