<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cup viscometer which can reduce the measuring error due to an individual difference of a worker and measure the viscosity of a liquid with high precision. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The cup viscometer is equipped with a cup-shaped container 1 having an orifice 1a provided to its bottom part and opened upward and a support part 2 for hanging down the cup-shaped container 1 by the hand of the worker and constituted of a rod-shaped plug member 3 capable of closing the orifice 1a of the cup-shaped container 1 from the inside, a pressure means for always holding the plug member 3 to a closed state by the pressing force of a spring 9 and an on-off lever 4 for changing over the plug member 3 to an open state only at the time of manual operation. When the plug member 3 is pulled out of the orifice 1a by operating the on-off lever 4 after the cup-shaped container 1 is drawn up from the liquid, the outflow of the liquid from the orifice 1a is started. By starting the measurement of a time using a means such as a stopwatch or the like simultaneously with on-off operation, the uncertainty due to an individual difference is reduced and measuring precision can be enhanced.
