PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly secure short-range communication method for surely confirming a device on the other end, correctly transmitting information data only to the device who requires information data, and providing highly secure communication data; and to provide a short-range communication system, and a portable terminal. SOLUTION: This short-range communication method includes: controlling the displacement detecting part of the transmitting side portable terminal so as to detect transmitting side displacement data, generating communication data with the detected transmitting side displacement data embedded in at least a part of data to be transmitted, transmitting the generated communication data, controlling the displacement detecting part of a receiving side portable terminal so as to detect the receiving side displacement data, receiving the transmitted communication data, separating the received communication data into transmitting side displacement data and receiving side displacement data, comparing similarity between the transmitting side displacement data and the receiving side displacement data, and approving communication between the transmitting side portable terminal and the receiving side portable terminal when the compared similarity is within a prescribed range.
