PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a flex fuel engine, stabilizing combustion at engine cold time, even when using alcohol-containing fuel. SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 20 has: a valve characteristic changing mechanism 30 for changing an opening-closing characteristic of an intake valve 31; and a cylinder injection valve 28 directly injecting fuel into a cylinder 21. An electronic control device 10 delays the valve opening timing of the intake valve 31 more than the valve closing timing of an exhaust valve 32 by the valve characteristic changing mechanism 30 when determining the effect of hardly atomizing injection fuel based on the ethanol concentration estimated by an ethanol concentration sensor 45, and executes pressure-reduced cylinder injection for injecting the fuel from the cylinder injection valve 28 when a piston 22 is lowered and both the intake valve 31 and the exhaust valve 32 are closed.
