<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous dispersion used for water-based ink for inkjet recording excellent in glossiness. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous dispersion used for inkjet recording is an aqueous dispersion which comprises polymer particles containing a coloring agent, and a water-insoluble organic compound whose maximum solubility in 100 g water at 20°C is not more than 5 g, and wherein the polymer has a component unit derived from benzyl acrylate.
