PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing program or the like for binarizing digital images, which appropriately removes a base and a background unnecessary for binarization. SOLUTION: In the image processing program for making a computer binarize image data into binary data, the image data have a gradation value wherein each pixel has the highest value in white and the lowest value in black, The computer executes grouping a predetermined number of pixels in the descending order of the gradation value from a predetermined gradation value and detecting the gradation value of the smallest number of the pixels including the same gradation value as a threshold candidate in the respective groups wherein a difference between the highest gradation value and the lowest gradation value within the group becomes larger than the prescribed value, and a threshold for the binarization processing is selected from the detected threshold candidates.
