A transporting mechanism for feeding plastic welding material to a plasticizing unit(4) comprises an electric motor(6) and a transmission system(2). The drive motor is located inside a housing (8) below the plasticizing unit. The motor housing(8) has no direct contact with the plasticizing unit(4) and is rounded, preferably semi-cylindrical, at least on the underside. The motor axis is parallel to the conveying direction in the plasticizing unit. A texture or coating on the outside of the housing enhances grip. A flanged connection joins the rear end of the motor(6) onto the transmission unit(2), which is a belt drive. The transmission unit housing(3) carries the plasticizing unit and drive motor housing on the front. At the rear of the transmission unit housing there is a handle housing(9) with a handgrip(11) which is on the upper and lower side to form a closed gripping opening(10). Components for controling operation are in the handle housing. Hot air is produced in the welding unit which has a radial fan(14) with transverse axis in the handle housing. The suction side of the fan connects with the motor housing which has air inlets so that incoming air flows past the motor and transmission unit. |
