The device has a tool carrier (1) including an accurately sized lateral contact surface (35) for a stopping unit i.e. stop bar (28), which is formed for engagement with the contact surface. The stopping unit and/or the contact surface has an installation device facilitating engagement at an opposite side. Separate elastic units i.e. spring elements (36), are provided in the stopping unit. The stopping unit is held under tension with a tool holder (2a) in a lateral arrangement at the contact surface through the elastic units, where the holder is inserted in a retainer of the tool carrier.
