摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the strike noise produced in a thrust receiving portion or the like every time when the acting direction of rotational torque acting on a control shaft is inverted. SOLUTION: The compression ration variable mechanism of an internal combustion engine consists of a control shaft 8, a piston 1, a crank shaft 6 and a plurality of links 3, 4, 5 for coupling the control shaft 8, a drive source 13 for rotationally driving the control shaft 8, and a conversion means 24 for transmitting driving force of the drive source 13 to the control shaft 8, and variably controls a compression ratio of an engine by changing a supporting position of the control link 5 keeping one end thereof to be freely rockably supported on the control shaft 8 through the rotation of the control shaft 8. The mechanism is also equipped with a biasing means 24 for applying axial force in a certain direction to the control shaft 8 when the rotational torque acts on the control shaft 8.
