<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound field forming apparatus capable of providing a stereoscopic effect of a sound field as intended by a designer even though reproduction volume is small and a high frequency characteristic of reproduced sound has been adjusted when forming a plurality of sound fields. <P>SOLUTION: The sound field forming apparatus 1 causes an effect level variable amplifier 89 to correct the effect level of a sound field according to output sound volume if the output volume of an electronic volume 51 is not higher than a threshold when an operating part 67 receives an instruction to generate a plurality of sound fields. If a parametric equalizer 46 has been adjusted on the basis of a target curve for lowering the high frequency characteristic when the operating part 67 receives the instruction to generate the plurality of sound fields, the cut-off frequency of each lowpass filter of an echo sound generating part is shifted to a high frequency side by a prescribed amount.
