PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system for electric facilities capable of stably detecting abnormal generation of corona discharge on the surface of an insulator for a long period. SOLUTION: The monitoring system for electric facilities comprises a detection section 22 arranged at a position receiving ultraviolet rays generated in response to corona discharge on the surface of the insulator 100 and made of a material detecting the ultraviolet rays at a vacuum ultraviolet ray zone, an ultraviolet ray sensor 16 having an output section 24 outputting an electric signal in response to the strength of the ultraviolet ray detected by the detection section 22, and a central operation system 58 for determining existence of abnormal generation of the corona discharge on the surface of the insulator 100 on the basis of the electric signal outputted from the output section 24 of the ultraviolet-ray sensor 16.
