Aromatic aldehyde, ketone and carboxylic acid derivative production involves using Friedel Craft acylation or carboxylation of aromatics and heteroaromatics, Fries rearrangement, Gattermann reaction, Gattermann koch reaction, Olah reaction and Rieche-Gross reaction. The aromatics and heteroaromatics react with carboxylic acid or carbonic acid derivatives in presence of stoichiometric or stoichiometric excess amount of Lewis acid and co-catalytic effective Lewis acid. The reaction mixture is dissolved with alcohols. The formed ketone or carboxylic acid derivative is separated from the formed metal or nonmetal chloride. A solvent, ionic liquid and hydroxycarbonyl compound are also utilized.
