<p>Junction seal for conduits, channels, tunnels, tubing etc. involving a join between the endfaces of two identical components, sections, lengths of pipe etc. consists of an expansion member (1) which is arranged between these two endfaces. The member forms a cavity (14) which is arranged between these two endfaces. The member forms a cavity (14) which is totally enclosed and can be expanded by means of a pressurised filling medium with the result that the ends of the sections or lengths are forced apart. The filling medium can be compressed air, a nonsetting material or a setting type of plastics injected into an expansion member typically designed as a U shaped rubber ring anchored axially in one of the sections. The anchorage should be effected by a tab (2) which engages a permanently plastically, filled groove (3) (e.g. using putty) on the component or section (8).</p> |
