The present invention relates to the field of metallurgy and concerns in particular rolling mill equipment. The unit includes fixed guides (1 and 2) and a device (3) for clocked forward feed of the reels along the guides (1 and 2). The device (3) is provided with means to receive and hold the reels which take the form of V-shaped hollows (5 and 6) and are made in the guides (1 and 2) and also with a reel carrier unit (7) which is kinematically connected to the device (3). Use of this invention is particularly advantageous in the cold rolling of metal strips of low and medium rigidity wound together on reels to form coils. <IMAGE>
