PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a spacing loss by making the tape contacting face of an auxiliary core thin and setting properly its thickness in accordance with a degree of specific wear to a main core. CONSTITUTION:A main core 13 of a composite magnetic head 12 consists of alloy magnetic materials, and an auxiliary core 14 consists of nonmagnetic ceramics, and a tape contacting face 15 is formed in a tapered shape 16. If a ratio of wear resistance of the main core 13 to that of the auxiliary core 14 is 1:eta, the tape contacting end part of the auxiliary core 14 is so made thin that a<=b/eta is true [(a) is the width of the tape contacting part of the auxiliary core 14 and (b) is the thickness of the main core 13], and its thickness is set to <=5mum. Thus, output degradation due to tape contacting is not generated when the main core and the auxiliary core different in wear resistance are laminated. |
