PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate the judgment at the point of time when the melting treatment of a PCB pollutant in a plasma decomposition furnace is completed. SOLUTION: In a method for judging the completion point of time of the melt treatment of the PCB pollutant when the PCB pollutant is charged in the furnace main body 8 of the plasma decomposition furnace 1, the completion point of time of the melt treatment of the PCB pollutant is judged on the basis of a change in the concentration level of the hydrogen chloride gas or the like contained in the exhaust gas produced in the furnace main body 8 of the plasma decomposition furnace 1 accompanying the melt treatment of the PCB pollutant.
