PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic lubricating oil and a lubricating oil composition which has high heat-resistant oxidation stability and a high viscosity index, and is excellent in low-temperature viscosity characteristics and shear stability, and to provide a lubricating oil composition. SOLUTION: The synthetic lubricating oil comprisesα-olefin(co)polymer specified by the following (i) to (iv): (i) to contain a constituting unit derived from 8 to 20Cα-olefin in a range of 90 to 100 mol% and a constituting unit derived from ethylene in a range of 0 to 10 mol.%; (ii) kinematic viscosity (K) at 100°C is in a range of 8 to 500 mm<SP>2</SP>/s; (iii) a number-average molecular weight (Mn) is 500 to 15,000; (iv) formula (I):A≤24.0×Exp(-0.0239×K) (I) and formula (II):B≤0.0775×K (II) are satisfied; and (v) a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) is in a range of 1.1 to 1.8, wherein A represents the content(%) of a (co)polymer having a molecular weight of≤1,000 and B represents the content(%) of a (co)polymer having a molecular weight of≥20,000.
