PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening assisting utensil for bag which keeps a bag open, is inexpensive and not bulky and facilitates the throwing in of articles. SOLUTION: This opening assisting utensil for trash bag has two elastic laterally long rectangular sheets. Vicinities of the centers of both end parts are turnably connected by a coupling device such as an eyelet or a rivet with each other, and a cylindrical shape is formed by being turned at 180°. Then, on the upper edge, an edge which is bent outward is provided, and the opening edge of a trash bag which is fitted inside is held in the edge, and thus, the opening of the trash bag is kept open.
