PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic isolator capable of restraining height of a movable plate for mounting a structure low, capable of being manufactured in a simple and compact structure, and suitable for a seismic isolation purpose of a small structure such as precision apparatus and artistic work. SOLUTION: This seismic isolator comprises a stationary plate 2, a columnar elastic connection element 6 arranged at a center of the stationary plate 2, a restraining plate 4 having a through hole 40 for inserting the elastic connection element 6, formed like a frame, assembled with the stationary plate 2 via multiple balls 3a and movable in an X-direction, and a movable plate 5 assembled with the restraining plate 4 via multiple balls 3b, movable in a Y-direction, and coupled with the stationary plate 2 by the elastic connection element 6.
