PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium carrying device, in which side-edge truing can be correctly performed even when operated by an unskilled operator, and a skew state of an inserted medium can be correctly detected. SOLUTION: Feed rollers 7a, 7b, 11a, and 11b are disposed on a carrying passage 2 to carry the medium, and two side-edge truing rollers 15a and 15b are provided. The side-edge truing rollers 15a and 15b are disposed where all the mediums being carried on the carrying passage 2 pass. Skew detection sensors 18 and 19 are disposed on the carrying passage 2, and a center sensor 20 is disposed between the skew detection sensors 18 and 19. The center sensor 20 is disposed slightly on the depth side of the skew detection sensors 18 and 19 in the carrying direction to detect end parts of the medium between the skew detection sensors 18 and 19.
