PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refining apparatus with which in a process for heating-refining molten steel in a ladle, a ladle truck having moved while loading a ladle on it, is released and the ladle truck can freely be utilized. SOLUTION: In this ladle refining apparatus, a furnace cover 11 is provided with an electrode 12 to constitute a heating device and at its lower part, a ladle keeping mechanism 16 provided with a receiving member for receiving the ladle 6 and a supporting means which moves vertically while supporting the receiving member, is installed. Further, to a space at the lower part of the heating device, at least two passages 4 on which the plurality of ladle trucks 5 can selectively be advanced/retreated, are provided. In the ladle placing range in the respective ladle trucks, a hole for permitting the vertical movement of the receiving member in the ladle keeping mechanism and a notched part at the side of the hole so that the receiving member in the ladle keeping mechanism can be escaped to the side of the hole are provided. The ladle truck is made to freely come in/come out at the lower part of the ladle in a state in which the ladle is received by the receiving member of the ladle keeping mechanism.
