<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement compressor reducing the wear of the neck portion of the through-hole of a swash plate. <P>SOLUTION: This variable displacement compressor is provided: with a rotor 21 fixed on a drive shaft 10 and integrally rotating therewith; the swash plate 24 mounted on the drive shaft 10 through the through-hole 61, slidable toward the axial direction of the drive shaft 10, and freely inclined to the axial direction; a connection mechanism 40 integrally rotating the rotor 21 with the swash plate 24 while the rotor 21 and the swash plate 24 are connected to each other to allow the inclination of the swash plate 24; and a piston 29 reciprocating with the rotational movement of the swash plate 24. The through-hole 61 of the swash plate 24 includes the neck portion 61c formed in an axial center part and having the minimum diameter, and oblong hole portions 61d, 61e having oblong cross section enlarged in diameter gradually from the neck portion 61c toward the opening ends on both axial sides.
