<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member which has a reflection film, a reflection increasing film, or an antireflection film formed by an application process. <P>SOLUTION: The optical member is equipped with an optical member parent body, a 1st and a 2nd inorganic compound layers alternately laminated on the optical member parent body. The 1st inorganic compound layer is consisting of a titanium compound having a hydrolyzable residue and an oleophilic smectite and has a higher refractive index than that of the optical member parent body.
