摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high yield in a liquid crystal display device while maintaining display performance even when there is misregistration in a viewing angle compensation plate and a polarizer due to variation in manufacturing. <P>SOLUTION: When a shift angle &theta;<SB>A</SB>or &theta;<SB>b</SB>between a liquid crystal alignment axis of the viewing angle compensation plate of a counter substrate 2 side or an array substrate 1 side and an absorption axis of the polarizer is deviated relatively by one degree or more due to the variation in manufacturing, the optical compensation function by the viewing angle compensation plate is maintained by arranging the pair of viewing angle compensation plates 19, 29 so that the included angle &theta;<SB>c</SB>of the mutual liquid crystal alignment axes is 89 degrees or more and 94 degrees or less even when there is the misregistration between the viewing angle compensation plate and the polarizer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
