938,410. Radioscopic apparatus. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE RADIOLOGIE. June 21, 1962 [July 21, 1961], No. 23969/62. Class 98 (1). Radioscopic apparatus comprises a table and a compression member, relative movement between table and member being possible perpendicular to the table top, the compression member being so mounted that, when in contact with a patient lying on the table, the member can move in mutually prependicular directions in a plane parallel to the table top without moving the point of contact with the patient. In the form shown, the compression member is a hemispherical pad 7 supported, from a mounting 5, between an X-ray tube 3 and an examination table 2. It can be moved vertically towards or away from the table, so as to be brought into contact with a patient lying thereon. The pad is supported by two arms 12, 13 pivoted at the ends of a fork 11 fixed on a shaft 10. Thus the pad can turn about two mutually perpendicular axes, intersecting at the point A, in a plane parallel to the table top. If, therefore, the pad is lowered until it is in contact with a patient lying on the table, and the latter moved a limited distance in any direction, the pad can follow the movement without the point of contact with the patient being varied. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 4, not shown), the pad is fixed in a sliding frame which can itself slide in an outer frame, thus again allowing movement of the pad in two mutually perpendicular directions. |
