It is an object to provide a coil unit that has a wide uniform sensitivity region along an axis direction even in the case where a rung length of a birdcage type RF coil is shortened. The coil unit is comprised of a gradient coil disposed along a static magnetic field generating source, a high frequency coil disposed at a position closer to an examining region than the gradient coil along the gradient coil, and a conductor unit disposed between the gradient coil and the high frequency coil to cover the outer circumference of the high frequency. The high frequency coil is provided with first and second loop coils positioned on a plane substantially orthogonal to the direction of the static magnetic field, a plurality of line-like conductors substantially in parallel with the direction of the static magnetic field, and a plurality of first capacitors disposed at the first and second loop coils. Further, the coil unit has a first connecting unit that electrically connects the high frequency coil with the conductor unit through a second capacitor and that is provided with an electric power supply circuit disposed in parallel with the second capacitor, and a second connecting unit that connects the high frequency coil with the conductor unit through a third capacitor.
