A gas diffusion layer for a fuel cell, a membrane electrode assembly containing the gas diffusion layer, and a fuel cell containing the membrane electrode assembly are provided to improve the ion conductivity of an electrolyte membrane irrespective of the water supply amount from the outside, thereby enhancing the performance of a fuel cell. A gas diffusion layer for a fuel cell comprises a base(209a,209b); and a microporous layer(207a,207b) which is formed on the surface of the base and comprises the Ketjen black having a BET surface area of 800-1,500 m^2/g and a fluorocarbon resin. Preferably the microporous layer is formed by coating a composition comprising the Ketjen black, a fluorocarbon resin and a solvent by screening printing, spray coating, doctor blade coating, roll coating or slit die coating process. Preferably the solvent is selected from the group consisting of water, isopropyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, butyl alcohol and their mixture. |
