A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to perform the initialization of wall charges stably by applying high voltages to scan electrodes while biasing sustain electrodes to a reference voltage. During a sustain period of a first sub-field, while biasing plural first electrodes(Y) to a ground voltage, a sustain discharge pulse alternately having a first voltage(-Vs) lower than the ground voltage and a second voltage(Vs) higher than the ground voltage is applied to plural second electrodes(X). Then, while applying the ground voltage to the second electrodes, a voltage of the first electrodes is maintained to a third voltage(VscH) higher than the ground voltage. During a reset period of a second sub-field after the first sub-field, while biasing the first electrodes to a fourth voltage(Ve) higher than the ground voltage, the voltage of the first electrodes is gradually decreased from the ground voltage to a fifth voltage(Vnf). The first and second voltages have the same magnitude and different phases from each other.
