A method for controlling song information search of audio files is provided to reduce time required for searching song information by adding identification information indicating that the associated song information had been looked up, and selectively searching unreferenced files on a reference of the identification information. A method for controlling song information search of audio files comprises the steps of: searching song information of audio files for classifying and storing the files in a database(S10); adding identification information showing that the song information had been looked up as 1 bit flag on management information of the associated audio file(S14); identifying unreferenced audio files on a reference of the identification information; and selectively performing song information search of the audio files.
