PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recorder and a printing system, including the video recorder which can generate an image for a label by using program information and edit the image without transferring the image to an external device, and to reduce the time and effort for editing images. SOLUTION: The printing system comprises the video recorder that can record television programs (hereinafter, to be referred to as program), a printer connected to the video recorder via a transmission cable, or the like. When a user selects a program from which the user desires to generate the image for label, a microcomputer for control edits the program, program information corresponding to the program and input information by the user, on the basis of an operation of a remote control by the user (S1). When editing is finished (YES in S2), the microcomputer for control generates edited data as the image for the label (S3), and transmits the generated image to the printer via the transmission cable (S4), and the printer prints the received image on paper for a label (S5).
