Turning units arranged with their axes in parallel rotate conveying belts (7,8) each twisted and set parallel to and crossing each other to form a turning mechanism (1). A sheet (2) wedged between the conveying belts is turned while transported in the conveying direction. Each guide roller (3-6) has retaining collars (14) or guide rims with a larger diameter than the guide roller body. Each guide roller has an accumulating flank extending from the guide roller body to the guide rims and oriented such that conveying bands (7',8') are strongly back-pushed to the desired process position.
