PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner including an extension pipe which can be extended and contracted smoothly and stably without using grease and extend the life of a seal packing. SOLUTION: The extension pipe 10 comprises an outside pipe 11 having an inside pipe locking means 14 at the end side and an inside pipe 12 which has a plurality of engaging parts 31 locked by the inside pipe locking means 14 in a longitudinal direction and is freely slidably inserted into the outside pipe 11. An inside lip 24 is projectingly provided on an inner surface side formed in a ring shape, a seal packing 23 having an outer groove 25 wider than the inside lip 24 on the back side of the inside lip 24 is clamped between a reinforcement pipe 19 fixed to an inner periphery on a tip part side of the outside pipe 11 and a seal packing fixing ring 20 placed on the back part side of the reinforcement pipe 19, and at least when the extension pipe 10 is extended maximally, the inside lip 24 is in contact with the outer circumferential surface of the inside pipe 12.
