TRANSFLECTIVE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

A transflective LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent a cell gap from being bigger due to a contact hole by disposing the contact hole in a boundary between a reflective area and a transmissive area and forming a passivation layer with a thickness of 1-2mum, thereby improving reliability of goods by minimizing light leakage caused by a stepped portion in the transflective LCD. A transflective LCD comprises a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) display panel and a common electrode display panel. The TFT display panel comprises a TFT, a passivation layer and an organic layer and pixel electrodes(191a). The TFT is formed on a lower insulating substrate and includes gate lines(121a), data lines(171a) and a semiconductor(151a). The passivation layer and the organic layer are sequentially formed on the TFT and have contact holes(181a,182a,185a). The pixel electrode is formed on the organic layer. The common electrode display panel includes a light blocking member, a color filter and a common electrode on an upper insulating substrate facing the TFT display panel.
