PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interpretation service system and an interpretation service method for smoothly providing the interpretation service even when one interpreter cannot smoothly cope with interpretation. SOLUTION: When receiving an interpretation service request from a conversation interpretation service user terminal 13, a control section 166 makes an interpreter selection section 165 select the interpreter adaptable to the interpretation service request, requests the interpretation to the selected interpreter via a connection section 161, and makes the connection section 161 transmit interpretation information to the conversation interpretation service user terminal 13 as its control when receiving the interpretation information from the interpreter terminal 14 of the selected interpreter. Further, at a point of time when the interpretation is requested to the interpreter, the control section 166 instructs a timer 167 to start measurement of time, when the control section 166 cannot receive an interpretation result from the interpreter terminal 14 even when the measurement of the timer 167 exceeds a prescribed time, the control section 166 cancels the interpretation request to the interpreter and instructs the interpreter selection section 165 to select a next interpreter.
