PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress production of noise and correct uneven contrast and stripes, in an image formed by an electrophotographic system.
SOLUTION: A linearizing LUT 351 is used for converting a gradation conversion characteristic of each segment to have a linearity with a prescribed strength and thereafter a principal component analysis is used. Thus, even when the order of the principal component used for the gradation conversion is lowered to first-order and second-order, the gradation conversion characteristic for suppressing a contrast change due to noise and contrast unevenness/stripes can be reproduced. That is, since the principal component analysis has only to store only the principal component of a lower order and position coefficients, a data amount to be stored can be decreased and the gradation conversion can be executed by excellently correcting the gradation conversion characteristic of each segment region as to all density areas.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
