PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying device, and an image forming device, capable of carrying recording paper of high stiffness and high rigidity such as thick paper without causing problems such as springing sound while maintaining advantages of space saving and low cost. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a first carrying means to hold and carry paper, a first guide member provided upstream of the first carrying means to guide to the first carrying means, a second guide member provided upstream of the first guide member to project into a carrying passage over a guide surface of the first guide member, and a third guide member provided downstream of the first carrying means to guide the paper in a different direction from the guide direction of the first guide member. As the tip of the paper is positioned at the third guide member 70 and 71, with the paper held by the first carrying means 6, the rear end of the paper is carried from the second guide member 74 to the first guide member 73, when the rear end of the paper gets in contact with the first guide member 73 with time difference along the width to reduce contact sound by means of a contact sound reducing means 76 or 77 provided on the first guide member.
