PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an apparatus and a method for testing a hardness meter, capable of carrying out its test or calibration more simply. SOLUTION: A pressure surface 6 of the hardness meter 1 is pressed on a base part 11 of the testing apparatus 10, and consequently, a pressing needle 4 of the hardness meter 1 presses and elastically deforms a leaf spring 12 of the testing apparatus 10 having a known elastic repulsive force, thereby testing the hardness meter 1 so as to correspond to the hardness being equivalent to the elastic repulsive force of the leaf spring 12.
